THE Sydney Bead & Gem Show | 08/10/2007 |
THE Sydney Bead & Gem Show is just around the corner and am I excited to be attending this year as Australian Beading magazine editor. Please do come and say ‘hi’ and let me know what you’re making – if you’re anything like me you’ve got several unfinished projects on the go at once - and what you’d like to see in upcoming issues of our magazine.
I will have my new baby boy with me, so it will be his first (of many) bead shows.
I always start a ‘shopping list’ before shows like this and find it getting longer and longer in those last few days before the show, when I’m convincing myself I really do need some 9mm red coral rounds while expertly ignoring the obvious fact that I have some 12mm rounds already and have yet to use them in a project!
Semi-precious gemstones are top of the list for this show – I think some chunky clear quartz will be perfect for a Summer necklace with some equally chunky silver chain links.
By the way, I delivered some more of your beads to the Cure Our Kids headquarters in Sydney the other day and they were overwhelmed with the number of readers who continue to donate beads to Westmead Hospital’s ‘Bravery Beads’ program for children battling cancer – I felt so very proud to be representing you all, so thank you again.
Hope you like the new issue of Australian Beading. We’ve got some fantastic projects planned for our December issue too, so if you’re heading away on holiday grab that issue, it’ll be great holiday reading – and beading! And thanks for all the lovely emails I’ve received about the magazine. It’s nice to hear from you all, but don’t be shy, be sure to email me with photos of what you’re making at knorton@universalmagazines.com.au
3am feeds have certainly hampered my creativity, so any inspirational vibes you can send my way are much appreciated!See you at the show - Kelly Kelly Norton
