Breast of Friends BOM

by Vicki on Thu Jan 22, 2009 5:36 pm

Hi everyone....I thought it best if we all talk about this wonderful BOM in here. Of course we can discuss it on our blogs, but in here we have more free reign. We dont want to upset anyone and all that.
Looking forward to seeing how everyones BOM goes as there is some lovely fabric choices happening. :D

Cheers

Hey all :)
Good idea Vicki. I hadn't even thought of all that 'stuff' with the other forum. Best to keep everyone happy! ;)
Well, I've made a start on the first block. I'm really quite happy with how it is turning out. I was worried my colour choices might nto work, but I think for once, I'm actually 100% happy with how it's looking! *shock horror* :)
I'm up to appliqueing the pretty birdies, and this may offend the 'purists' but I'm doing it using blanket stitch on my machine *gasp* Well, I did warn you! Sorry if any have fallen over from shock..haha. But due to an injury and surgery on my right hand, I can't do much hand stitching.
Anyway, shall take some progress pics tomorrow.
Am so looking forward to hearing from everyone else about their quilts. Please share some photos of your fabrics, and how you are going. :)

Hi everyone,
Well I've nearly finished block one and about to start on block 2 but I have a query???? They say the block should measure 10" finished but by my calculations and their numbers I ended up with 10 1/2" square. Can someone have a look at block 2 and get back to me with their findings please.I'd really apreciate this as I don't want to muck it up as I did with the first block  Barb.
P.S: Sam I'm sure the buttonhole police are still on holidays and no one else minds I'm sure.Everyone is doing their blocks diferently and I'd be interested to see your blocks done this way.I'm not brave enough to attempt to do it by machine.

Hi Sam and Barb.....great to talk with you in here.

Sam ....like Barb said I dont think the sewing police are back from their holidays and besides its your quilt and no one can tell you how it should or shouldnt be done. By the way I love your fabrics you have chosen and I am hoping that a bit of green is put into the next lot of blocks. I love green :)

Barb I have measured my finished block number 2 (still doing the embroidery bit) and it measures 10 x 10 inches. Thank goodness as the last one turned out wrong and either I measured it wrong or what I dont know. But I unpicked the last border on it and measured it again and thought it should work out to 15.5in and so sewed it back on and for some unknown reason it worked out. I think I had the little sewing gremlin in my house when I first sewed it on. Maybe he is in your house now too Barb :)

I am looking forward to seeing all the photos of everyones blocks too.

Oh, I am so happy to hear that the buttonhole police are still on holidays! May they stay that way for the next 9 months!

Barb, what colours are you doing? Are they on your blog? Vicki, you are doing the pink and brown arent you? They are all going to look so good, and different! I'm looking forward to seeing Dennis progress as I like the crimson and teal colour combo too.

Well, I'm now up to stitching the words...looking good so far.

And don't you send those sewing gremlins to my house! I have them visit me often enough as it is!

Have just sent a PM off to a few of the ladies who mentioned they were interested. Hopefully they will come over and drop in! :)

The link worked ok for me. :)
I've just been outside sitting in the sun, whilst stitching the vines. :)
