As far back as ancient Rome, window box gardening has not only been the solution for those with little gardening space but also perfect for adding a touch of colour to an otherwise lifeless building. Most window boxes were designed for practical reasons such as growing plants for food or medicine, or flowers used in various ceremonies. In today’s world, the humble window box can be found adorning many homes, especially throughout Italy and France and that’s just what Zoe Clifton of The Blanket Box had in mind when she designed her pretty wallhanging as a web bonus project for this issue of Homespun.
