| Quilters Companion 31Many of you have asked for more instruction about foundation piecing so with QC#31 Michelle Marvig will be demonstrating how to foundation piece on our next DVD. She has designed a delectable Mariner’s Compass quilt made with oriental fabrics. We also have fabulous quilt projects from Deborah Layt, Carolyn Konig, Karen Henry, Jennifer Knol, Cathy Stevenson and Jane Morgan. We are looking for ways to stretch our boundaries and try something new so Nicole Bridges will be joining us to demonstrate how to start pushing our creative boundaries and she has a great little project to get you started. Deborah Louie will begin answering your domestic machine quilting questions, while Michelle Marvig trials some great new textured fabrics from RJR. | | | |
| I’ll Take The High Road Jane Morgan of Gladesville, NSW says about her quilt, "As the range of fabric I chose to use for this quilt (Killean by RJR Fabrics) had a lovely toile my aim was to showcase it. I did this by fussy-cutting counterpane squares and combining them with an Ohio Star variation block." | | |
| March of the Elephants Carolyn Konig of Wodonga, Victoria says, "Presently I have three grandchildren – all boys. The elephant design was inspired by the paisley striped fabric and an elephant idea from a book Childhood Treasures by Caroline Zoob". | | |
| Vintage Rose of Sharon Rhonda Coates of Kilmore, Vic says about her quilt, "The Rose of Sharon block is many and varied. It is said to have been inspired by a plant that is grown in Syria. The irony of that is, that the plant is not actually classified as a rose." | | |
| Pods Nic Bridges of Cordeaux Heights, NSW says about her quilt, "I have long been fascinated by seedpods – I often pick them up if I spy them while out walking, and they come home with me to add to my collection. I think these ones came from an Illawarra Flame Tree." | | |
| Summer Sun Quilt In some areas of Australia there wasn’t much summer to speak of over January and February 2008. Jennifer Knol created her own summer cheer by creating this lovely pink and green quilt. You might like to make one for next summer. | | |
